Description
Mirabilis jalapa is also known as Night Beauty. This fragrant plant opens its flowers in late afternoon in a variety of colours and closes them at dawn. On cloudy days, you can see the flowers all day during the flowering period. During flowering, this special plant is highly sought after by butterflies.
The tubers are not hardy. Before winter, tubers should be kept in peat moss, cool and dry. Plant from May onwards.

Prachtige plantIk heb m niet eens geplant ,hij was er gewoon en doet het heel mooi bij ons,Snachts idd open en smiddags dicht.

PrachtplantIn tegenstelling tot wat altijd beschreven staat, heb ik de knollen nog nooit uitgegraven in het najaar. Komt elk jaar weer groter op, dit al sinds een jaar of 10. Wordt elk jaar mooier en voller.

Verrassende struikDe Mirabilis heeft vaak bontgekleurde bloemen aan één plant. Hij neemt best veel ruimte in. Eén plant kan makkelijk een vierkante meter beslaan. Als je de knol in de herfst opgraaft en bewaart heb je volgend jaar weer een goede knol. Ook komt er heel veel zaad vanaf, dat ook goed is op te kweken.
